Kaygizm

Singer, Songwriter, Recording artist, Producer

and Musical Director.

Mahikeng / Johannesburg,  Sount Africa

Kaygizm is widely known as “KayGee” Of Morafe - is a singer, songwriter, recording artist, producer, and musical director.

Born on the 29th May 1979 in Venda, he later moved with his family to Mafikeng where he became part of a tight-knit community. He grew up alongside Khulani Morule - popularly known as “Khuli Chana”.

His actual pursuit of a career in music began in the early ‘90s when he and Khuli Chana made the decision to start a music group. They formed a duo going by the name of Jazzadaz and started writing their own Hip Hop songs, with KayGizm teaching Khuli Chana how to rap and write original material. Singing was a skill that was second nature to KayGizm as he contributed constructively to all the songs produced by the duo. And so it became his main focus.

In 1995 Morafe was born - comprising of KayGizm and Khuli Chana, alongside Lerothodi “Towdeemac” Moagi and Mr Mo Molemi. It was noted that KayGizm brought a unique and notably high caliber of ingenuity to their music and that was the point at which he intensified his commitment to the personal expansion of his singing and song-creating skills.

Morafe has performed extensively; been enthusiastic participants in the Maftown Heights venture; and released two albums to date, namely “Maru A Pula” and “A Ene” (which was nominated for Best Urban Pop at the 2007 South African Music Awards). To KayGizm, Maftown Heights is the first significant step towards the fulfillment of a great prayer: “We always used to dream of Motswako becoming a global genre, shared on the biggest stages in the world.

Motswako is more than music, it’s a universal language and Maftown Heights is the perfect platform from which to share it, this venture couldn’t have come at a better time.”
